What's The Spirit Ride?
The Spirit Ride is designed to draw media attention to Move-Over laws and the needless sacrifices towers and other first responders make in serving the motoring public and transportation industry. After Chip Kauffman of B/A Products first approached American Towman with an idea for a drive across America to promote Move-Over, the vision for what could take place began to grow. To date, over 300 towing companies have signed up to carry the "Spirit" by car carrier as towers continue to volunteer to participate and also lend their ideas to the project.
The "Spirit" Casket pays tribute to those towers who paid the ultimate sacrifice while working America's roadways. The "Spirit" will begin its journey towards the end of Spring of 2017. It will relay from carrier to carrier across the country, passing through many towns and cities, drawing as much attention from national and local media as we all can muster. It will then make its long-awaited appearance in Baltimore, Maryland in a procession past the Baltimore Convention Center and the city’s Historic Harbor during next year’s American Towman Exposition.
How many cities, how many towers, and the exact route will be determined over the course of this year as towers sign up to participate. The route may accommodate towers who've signed up and form a zig-zag route cross country, or may not. It's too early to say what the route may be.
Towers may be part of the Spirit Ride in more than one way. A tow company may carry the casket for a leg of the journey, or may join the procession, or show up for a ceremonial rally to greet the procession. A tower may also help with promoting the Spirit Ride to local media.
Those companies involved will also benefit from this campaign because of its focus onto the safety issues of working the roadside. American Towman will help to make this focus more meaningful to the safety of your tow operators as the campaign progresses.
